In the Summer of 2012, a group of Spanish friends decided to form a football team and got established in London’s legendary Hackney Marshes. We called ourselves Spaniards FC and we chose red top and navy blue short and socks as a clear reference to our roots.
On September 29, 2012, Spaniards played its first official game and managed to draw 3-3 against BUOB. Since then our club has played more than 100 games, achieved a promotion and reached two cup finals.
Currently the club is affiliated to London FA (Football Association) and AFA (Amateur Football Association) and a member of the AFC (Amateur Football Combination) where it plays its Saturday league ‘Senior 3 North division’. Spaniards FC has also joined London Old Boys Challenge Cup, London County Junior Cup and the AFA Challenge Cup.
We stand by our values of friendship, cooperation, inclusiveness, respect and sacrifice. And as such, we welcome to our club anyone who shares these values. We use football as a tool for the integration of London’s newcomers and as a great cultural exchange where Spaniards from different regions and players from other nationalities share the same goal.
Today, the club plays its sixth season and the objective is promotion to Senior North 2 Division.
